Millie's Cookies

Millie 's Cookies is a British confectionery bakery chain that specializes in an American product range and sold mainly various biscuits, muffins, specialty coffees and Baskin -Robbins ice cream.

History

Millie 's Cookies was founded in 1985 by private entrepreneurs and opened the first store in London's Oxford Street. With the entry of Richard O'Sullivan in executive position in 1987 to expand beyond the borders of London started out, inter alia, to Sheffield, Manchester and Birmingham. In the following years, the chain opened branches in most major train stations and airports, and in many shopping malls in the United Kingdom.

In June 1997, we took over the competitors Cookie Jar with around 30 branches that have been integrated into his own branch network before Millie 's Cookies was acquired by Compass Group itself in 2003. Compass will allow the company to continue to grow in their own country, but also taking aim at an international expansion. This will initially be operated by openings in major continental European cities.

Products

Millie's currently offers 13 different kinds of cookies, muffins and other five varieties (sometimes changing) American pastries. For the German market rather unusual are the container sizes, as well as 5 Series, 8-seater, 13 and 18 gauge packs are offered in addition to the retail sale of cookies, with a significant volume discount is granted (the price per piece is reduced from 0.99 € up to 0.36 € ). In many locations in the United Kingdom is also ice from Baskin- Robbins, a competitor of Ben & Jerry's and Häagen- Dazs, offered. Whether this will be the case in future also in German stores is not yet decided.

Branches in Germany

As part of that expansion plans of Millie 's Cookies opened in 2006 a branch office in the main station in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin in the new Central Station. Both are operated by the former DB subsidiary Mitropa, which also belongs to the Compass Group since 2004.

Figures

Currently operates Millie 's Cookies approximately 120 branches in the UK, one in France and China (Hong Kong airport) ( metro station "Opera" in Paris ) and two in Germany (see above). 2002 in the last fiscal year prior to their acquisition, the chain posted sales of £ 23 million, ie approximately EUR 33.7 million
