Milton (Cambridgeshire)

Milton is a suburb north of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, with 4,275 inhabitants ( 2001 census).

The place is located in the county of Cambridgeshire, and is separated by the A14 from Cambridge. The population doubled in the late 1980s by the construction of two residential areas from 1,720 in 1981 to 4,100 in 1991. In the decade between the 1991 and 2001 censuses, the population grew by only 175 people.

The place is home to the Milton Brewery, a brewery founded in 1999. Their first beer, called " Pegasus " was an immediate success and won numerous awards, including the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain.

In Milton, there are two churches, All Saints Church and the New Apostolic Church. The Agricultural College, an agricultural college in the city, is part of the College of West Anglia. Milton is the seat of Pi Group Ltd.. and houses offices of the software company Symbian, known by the distribution of the operating system Symbian OS.

In Milton the Cambridge Science Park, the oldest science park is located in the UK. It was founded in 1970 from Trinity College, which has close ties to the nearby University of Cambridge. While the park is technically part of Milton, he is regarded by residents as part of the city of Cambridge. The Cambridge Science Park is home to many businesses, educational institutions and research institutes.
