The Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts ( German: Mimar Sinan University ) is a public university in Istanbul's Fındıklı. Rector of the University is Rahmi Aksungur.

History

After the founding of the institution on January 1, 1882 by Osman Hamdi Bey as " School of Fine Arts " ( Mekteb -i Sanayi -i -i Nefise Şâhâne or short Sanayi -i Nefise Mektebi ) she was the first of its kind in Turkey and took on March 2, 1883 eight professors and twenty students instruction in the fine arts and architecture. 1914, the school was co-educational. In 1928 she received the status of an academy, changed its name to " Academy of Fine Arts " ( Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi ) and was the first academy of Turkey. In 1969 it was renamed " Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts " ( İstanbul Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi, İDGSA ). On 20 July 1982 she was awarded the status of a university and was named after the architect Sinan " Mimar Sinan University " ( Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi ) called. In December 2003, the Administration changed the name to " Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts " ( Güzel Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi Sanatlar ).
