Mímisbrunnr

Mimir's fountain is in Norse mythology, a source at the foot of the world-ash Yggdrasil. It is guarded by the giant Mimir, because in their knowledge and wisdom are hidden. In order to be able to drink from it, the father of the gods Odin had to deposit one of his two eyes as a pledge in the water. But he allegedly gained the gift of clairvoyance. According to the Prose Edda Snorri Sturluson from Mimir's fountain is one of three sources that are below the roots of the Nordic World Tree. The others are the Urdbrunnen and Hvergelmir.
