Mimiviridae

The term Mimiviridae a family of dsDNA viruses is called. The viruses of this family belong to the Nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses clade ( NCLDV ), a group of members of the Asfarviridae, Iridoviridae, Phycodnaviridae family, Marseilleviridae, Megaviridae, Poxviridae and the genus Dinodnavirus belong.

History of Research

The first member of this family, the Mimivirus was discovered in 2003. Other members of the family are cafeteria - roenbergensis virus Courdovirus, Mama virus Moumouvirus, Terra Terra virus 1 and 2 virus

Taxonomy

Although only a few members of this family are described in detail, it seems likely that there are kinds of viruses that belong to this group. These include Chrysochromulina virus Ericina 01, Phaeocystis pouchetii virus 01 and Pyramimonas orientalis virus 01 These viruses are already insulated but not yet sufficiently characterized.
