Mindarus

Mindaros († 410 BC in Cyzicus ) was a Spartan general of the fifth century BC.

Mindaros was in the Peloponnesian War ( 431-404 BC ) in the year 411/410 BC as Nauarch commander of the Spartan fleet. He reached targeted Athenian bases on the Hellespont, in order to prevent the vital Attica grain shipments from the Black Sea region. In several battles, including the Battle of Kynossema, he fought with varying success against the Athenian general Alcibiades, against whom he finally fell in 410 BC the Battle of Cyzicus on the southern shore of the Marmara Sea.
