Ministry of Defense (Japan)

The Japanese Ministry of Defense (Japanese防卫 省, Boei - shō ) was born on 9 January 2007 from the Defense Agency (防卫 庁, Boei -chō ). This was created in 1954 by the defensive oriented rearmament of Japan after the Second World War to carry out in the form of self-defense forces.

As part of the Cabinet of the Minister of Defence is accountable to Parliament in accordance with Article 66 of the Japanese Constitution and is thus under full civilian control. The ministers are under the Chief of Staff of the armed forces, the State Secretaries and Directors-General (after a restructuring in October 2007) six internal departments of the Ministry.
