Ministry of Education (Malaysia)

Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia ( German: Ministry of Education ) and Ministry of Education ( MOE) called from 2004 to 2013, a former State Department of Malaysia. His duties were in education policy and in particular the supervision of school operations in primary and secondary education.

After the elections to the Malaysian Parliament which was merged with the Ministry to the Ministry of Higher Education to the new Ministry of Education and Higher Education (Education & Higher Learning Ministry ).

The Ministry was in the administrative center of Putrajaya south of the capital Kuala Lumpur.

History

Even before the independence of the Federation of Malaya was the first cabinet of Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman on 27 July 1955, Ministry of Education set up, which was occupied with Tun Razak. The Malaysian name of the Ministry was Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia ( German: Ministry of Education) and was fully responsible for everything that had to do with education. Only in 2004, the concerns of tertiary education were separated and stored in a separate ministry, the Ministry of Higher Education. While the English name remains the same, the renaming of the Malaysian name of ( German ) Ministry of Education by the Ministry of Education, the shift in emphasis reflects significantly.

When Kabinettsneubilding after the parliamentary elections to the 13th Malaysian Parliament on 5 May 2013, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education were merged to the new Ministry of Education and Higher Education (Education & Higher Learning Ministry ). At the proposal of the Minister of the name for the common ministry a short time later, however, in the Ministry of Education (Ministry of Education or Kementerian Pendidikan ) has been renamed.

Tasks

The range of tasks of the Ministry covered all aspects of pre-school education, primary and secondary schools, including the grade level form 6, the formation of nationwide curricula, the central performance of audits, the management of enrollment courses ( matrikulasi ), the publication of textbooks and the training of teachers. To perform its duties under the Ministry were a number of institutions and organizations, such as

  • Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka - Institute of Language and Literature
  • ITBM - Malaysian Institute of Translation and books
  • MEC - Malaysian Examination Council; is responsible for the organization of final exams STPM and STP
  • IPGM - Institute for Teacher Education

Minister

Responsible Minister was from 9 April 2009 until the dissolution of Parliament on April 3, 2013, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia holds. The position of the minister of education in Malaysia is considered as eligibility for the Office of the Malaysian Prime Minister. Up to the first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman all Malaysian Prime Minister had held this position during her political career.
