Mira Alečković

Mira Alečković ( Serbian Cyrillic Мира Алечковић; born February 2, 1924 in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, † February 26, 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia) was a Yugoslav novelist, poet and songwriter.

She was a member from 1939, the Communist youth organization and since 1941 the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army. After the war, she studied at the University of Belgrade and at the Sorbonne (Paris) and Slavic Literature. She has published several books of poetry, the first, Zvezdane balade 1946 appeared, as well as numerous children's books. She also wrote for several youth magazines. Also known are the songs Druze Tito mi ti se kunemo and Jugoslavijo whose lyrics she wrote and which were interpreted, among others, by Zdravko Colic. 1980, a three -volume edition of selected works ( Izabrana dela Mire Alečković ) was published.
