Mirko Sandić

Mirko Sandić ( Serbian Cyrillic Мирко Сандић; born May 9, 1942 in Belgrade, Serbia, † December 24, 2006 ) was a Serbian water polo player.

He played with the Yugoslav water polo team 235 games and scored more than 250 goals. With the VK Partizan Belgrade he was eleven Yugoslav champion and won the European Cup five times. At the Olympic Games in 1964 in Tokyo, he won the silver medal with the team. In 1968 he won with the team at the Olympic Games in Mexico the gold medal. In 1966 and 1970 he won the European Championships bronze medals. After his playing days, he became coach of Egypt, Malaysia and Singapore. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1999.
