Miro (software)

The Miro Media Player (formerly Democracy Player or DTV ) is a system developed by the Participatory Culture Foundation, Free P2PTV program. It can automatically download videos from subscribed channels and works as a video podcast reader. The Miro Media Player runs on different platforms ( eg Mac, Windows, GNU / Linux) is free software and uses an RSS reader and a BitTorrent client based on libtorrent. He used to play the media files on Windows and GNU / Linux VLC or xine, with GNU / Linux GStreamer is also possible. Under Mac OS X, however, QuickTime is used. Miro was programmed primarily in Python.

Miro allows you to search for videos of nine video portals. The results of the search are displayed as a list with one image and a one-to five-line description and can be clicked to request for download. If significant hits with separating sharp keyword combinations can be such a search as a channel ( "Channel" ) store, so new videos in the future with the given search terms arise, as with any "real TV channel" automatically or manually based may be, without performing the search again and with the old hits.
