Formation

After the release of their first album Coll: set June 29, 2005 began their [ Secret Coll: set ] tour from July 29 in Japan. Other concerts in Japan and the U.S. followed. So they played on 26 February at the MegaCon in Orlando, Florida. The resulted images were published on 8 March 2006 on DVD The World Outside The Cage. The single released on April 5 Kogoeru Yoru ni Saita Hana was accompanied by two live performances from Orlando (Forbidden or Garnet ) as an extra CD.

In summer 2006 they changed the label of Sweet Child Records to Sword Records. Furthermore, the tour [ liquidise ] Yuugousuru began Taion, which led, among other things, on 3 and 5 August at the Wacken Open Air in Germany. The finale was held on September 8th and 9th place in LIQUID ROOM Ebisu - Disktikt in Tokyo and was released on 20 December 2006 as a live DVD as liquidise (Live Tour 06 ), which was liquidise photo album of the tour already on 15 July published and included a CD with the song Closer to ideal.

In early 2007 began the studio recordings for Squall, which hit stores on March 14. The inspiration for this song was Karyu by a letter. The single was the first of which were for sale in a limited and the regular version, the principle was maintained in subsequent publications. However, Karyu wanted to write songs that you could play at Wacken and similar festivals. Therefore, the choice of the theme song for the March single was hard, so wanted Karyu Trickster, but the other band members decided to Squall. Karyu and Zero were also not sure if MIRROR should be included on the new album or not. The last song of the album should be included in early March, but Karyu brought three days earlier still to Kaleidoscope. Although management fought back, however, to change the schedule of the song was still packed on the album, so that the recordings with one day delay came to an end.

On April 11, the disc was in a limited and regular version in stores. The regular edition contained picture card of the band members, an English booklet and an extra CD with music videos from trickster and Squall; The Limited Edition also contained photo card, but was delivered in digipack. The European version even includes the bonus track Desert.

Tour

On the same day the Spiral Staircase # 15 started the tour. The first concert was only fan club members only. The tour schedule consisted of 15 concerts, the last one took place on May 15 at Shibuya -AX.

There followed the U.S. tour, where they performed on May 26 on the J- Rock Revolution Festival. Your subsequent European tour started from 29 June (Mirror in Europe was published on 22 ) and led to Spain, Sweden and Finland. There, they performed at two festivals, on 1 July at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival 2007 in Helsinki and on 7 July at the Ruisrock 2007 in Turku.

On 5 September 2007 the Spiral Staircase # 15 Final live in Japan DVD was released.

Style

The singles and the album contained elements of pop - rock, which at that time was a novelty for D' espairsRay. My first, album Coll: set was already more melodic and harmonic than the singles and EP's which have been previously published, but still moving in the field of Industrial Metal and Alternative Metal. This style trend continued now; but within the band led to discussions of how far they should go with it, and as melodic to be their songs.

The A-Sides of singles Kogoeru yoru ni hana saita and Squall are more likely attributable to pop-rock, as well as the B -Sides MAZE and the sad ballad SCREEN. Only PIG and Desert are harder songs. The principle at a single composing the A -side of "soft" was retained since Kogoeru yoru ni hana saita today.

The album is constructed versatile. In addition to ballads such as SCREEN, Kaleidoscope and Squall pieces of music are available which can be assigned to the more alternative metal, as TRICKSTəR, Desert and the title track MIЯROR. The song DAMNED combines these elements and embeds it into a dark and oppressive atmosphere, which in Coll: set recalls. While Lost Scene creates a dark atmosphere, Hollow, Closer to ideal Sixty ∞ Nine and Angeldust are much more rock and a mixture of pop - rock and metal. As with Coll: set also guttural singing was used by singer Hizumi.

The song SCREEN underwent a revision. Was it on the single yet quiet and peaceful and distressing ballad, the album version is a melancholy orchestral elegy full of Heavy Metal. It is so far the quietest piece of music in their discography.

The songs of the album have up to SCREEN and Squall a very fast rhythm, this is unintentionally loud band.

Reception

The album received good reviews. So D' espairsRay had done everything correctly with Mirror and their first album Coll: set equal to one, outbid two levels, which not a single fan according to the preliminary singles could have expected.

Allmusic called D' espairsRay as " adaptation of Rammstein for Japan", especially the song Sixty ∞ Nine could this be difficult to hide. The musical style was influenced by Marilyn Manson and the Europop. However, the core of their style are hard but not intrusive guitar riffs, fast but not hysterical game and a melodramatic interpretation of Jim Morrison's baritone. They would create hardship and pop to interconnect the chorus of Hollow must, however, disappear.

The album reached # 36 on the Oricon charts, making it still the highest placed album of the band.
