Misha Defonseca

Misha Defonseca (* 1937 in Etterbeek, real name Monique de Wael ) is a Belgian writer who primarily by the published in 1997 and later filmed book Misha: A Memoir was known of the Holocaust Years ( to German survival among wolves ). In this designated by the author as autobiographical work, the story of a Jewish girl is told that protects wolves wanders across occupied Europe Germany to find their kidnapped parents.

The German journalist Henryk M. Broder had in 1996 expressed doubts about Defonsecas history. Research by the Belgian newspaper Le Soir presented in February 2008 finally realized that the story was fictitious, as is the alleged Jewish ancestry of the author. Defonseca finally confirmed the search and admitted that the story does not correspond to the facts.
