Miss Li

Miss Li ( born July 6, 1982 in Borlänge, actually Linda Carlsson ) is a Swedish singer and pianist. A characteristic feature of their music is a mixture of elements of jazz, pop, blues, soul, Dark Cabaret and country music.

She was known among other things, the diverse use of their songs in American television series and commercials. So was her song Do not Try to Fool Me in the television series Grey's Anatomy and Weeds use. In addition, the piece Bourgeois Shangri -La in a commercial for an Apple iPod, as well as the piece of Oh Boy in a commercial for a Volvo C70 was used.

Life

During her youth in her Swedish hometown, the industrial town of Borlänge, Miss Li experimented with music from different genres (among classical, jazz, hard rock, punk and metal ) and was active in several bands as a singer. With one of these bands she won at the age of 17, a talent contest against the then still little-known Swedish rock band Sugarplum Fairy ( just like the band Mando Diao in Borlänge comes from and how it was later to become one of the most famous Swedish bands ). However, since she felt in the small-town environment not well and found little opportunity to artistic activity, she moved to the Swedish capital Stockholm in 2005.

After moving to Stockholm she decided to make music himself, and bought for this purpose without further ado her own piano, which she at first but was able to use only sporadically due to lack of exercise. However, soon they took on their first demo recordings and presented her songs at gigs in small bars and clubs. They came initially alone, and accompanied herself on the piano. After her it was too monotonous she could convince two friends from her hometown, to found a band.

With Clas Lassbo on bass and Gustav Nahlin on drums Miss Li then took on her first single with the up-tempo song " Oh Boy", and her debut album, Late Night Heartbroken Blues, both in November 2006, the Swedish independent label National Records published. For a title of the album it was Sonny Boy Gustafsson, win the singer and guitarist of the Swedish rock band Captain Murphy, as a duet partner, whereupon he was taken later as a guitarist in the band and ( after the dissolution of his band ) is also instrumental in the songwriting of later albums involved.

In April 2007, Miss Li sang along with the Swedish- Japanese musician Maia Hirasawa a duet on their debut album Though, I'm Just Me In September 2007, she participated in a further guest appearance together with the Swedish singer and songwriter Lars Winnerbäck for his album Daugava a duet titled "Om du lämnade mig nu" ( Sr. "If you now leave me " ) on which number one reached as a single release in the Swedish single charts, represented there for over a year remained and Miss Li and Winnerbäck 2007 a Grammis Award in the category Best song earned.

Once in May 2007 - just six months after publication of the debut album - was released already the second album God Put a Rainbow in the Sky, Miss Li released her third album, Songs of a Rag Doll in October of the same year. Even the first best-of album Best of 061122-071122, which additionally also contained eight new songs - In addition, it briefly appeared in December 2007 - just 13 months after their first album release.

After several subsequent major tours, including through Sweden, Germany, France, Russia and the United States, appeared another, limited edition for the German market, self-titled best-of album in October 2008. In addition, Miss Li female performer this year was again nominated for a Grammis - award in the category best. In March 2009, finally released their fourth studio album Dancing the Whole Way Home, which reached eighth place of the Swedish charts.

In March 2011, the fifth studio album Beats & Bruises was released. The following month, Miss Li went on a tour of Sweden.

The sixth studio album Tangerine Dream was released in October 2012.

Collaboration

Miss Li was involved as a co-author in the production of the album Stardust by Lena Meyer- Landrut and acts as a duet partner on the song ASAP with.
