Miss Scandinavia

Miss Scandinavia was a joint beauty contest in the Northern European countries for unmarried women.

The first choice for Miss North was held in 1961 in Reykjavik ( Iceland ), with one participant from each of the five Scandinavian countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

This suggestion was taken up in Finland, and on January 6, 1963 in Helsinki was the first time a competition under the name of Miss Scandinavia. The next event took place there on 13 October of the same year instead of (Miss Scandinavia 1964). Was hosted by the Agency Finn Artist in cooperation with the local TV station YLE, who also transferred the competition. From then took from each country two candidates participate.

Except for 1961 and 1963 to host, which operated on at the end of the year preceding the ( specified in the table) " year in office " preceded - usually in October. For 2006, no Miss Scandinavia was selected more, then merged the competition with Miss Baltic Sea: Miss Baltic Sea and Scandinavia. Participation is open to all countries that have run in the previous competitions.
