Mitty Collier

Mitty Lene Collier (born 21 June 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American soul and gospel singer.

Career

Mitty began her musical career at the Hayes Ensemble, a gospel group, singing as a child in church. For Chess Records she was discovered by Ralph Bass at a talent competition and in 1960 she signed a record deal. She took on many " secular " songs. She celebrated her first success with "I'm Your Part Time Love " b / w " Do not You Forget It ," a song which reached the top 20 of the R & B charts in the fall of 1963.

In 1964 she took on James Cleveland's Spiritual " I Had A Talk With My God Last Night", but replaced the word "God " with " man". Although the song of the highest ranking hit from Collier was not, it only reached number 41 on the Billboard R & B singles chart and also number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, who covered him for many musicians, such as Dusty Springfield, Marva Wight, Inez Foxx and Shirley Brown.
