Miyuki Miyabe

Miyuki Miyabe (Japanese宮部 みゆき, Miyabe Miyuki, born December 23, 1960 in Kōtō, Tokyo Prefecture) is a Japanese writer.

Life

Born in Fukagawa, a district of Tokyo District Kōtō, she spent her childhood in Japan's capital. After the completion of the Sumida high school she worked in a Antwaltskanzlei. At twenty-three, she wrote her first novel. She also attended classes with author Masao Yamamura, which were offered by Kodansha publishing house. Her debut as an author she had in 1987 with the short story Warera ga Rinjin no hanzai (我ら が 隣人 の 犯罪).

In the following years, she published numerous novels that have been translated into several languages. For Kasha 1993 she received the prestigious Yamamoto Shugoro - price, and for Riyu (理由) 1998 Naoki Prize.

Her novels and short stories cover a wide range of genres, from youth book about science fiction and fantasy to detective novels. Miyabe is a member of the Association of " Mystery Writers of Japan" (日本 推理 作家协会, Nihon Suiri Sakka Kyōkai ).
