History

Mobility was created in 1997 by the merger of two Swiss car-sharing cooperatives AutoTeilet - cooperative ( ATG) and ShareCom. This predecessor companies were both founded in 1987, the ATG in Stans and the ShareCom in Zurich. As early as 1991, the two companies worked together to give their members the mutual use of the vehicles. The same year she participated in the founding of the association European Car Sharing ( ECS). In 1996, the ATG of the Geneva cooperative CopAuto (founded in 1993). The ShareCom developed the first on-board computer in the same year.

The newly established in 1997 from the merger of ATG and ShareCom company Mobility Carsharing with legal headquarters in Zurich included 17'400 customers and 760 vehicles. As a result, the technical development of the reservation system was driven: The cars were equipped with onboard computers, and the members were given a chip card ( Mobility Card ). Simultaneously, the reservation has been established via the Internet. The costly technical equipment meant a huge financial burden, so that a rehabilitation program was necessary in 2000.

Since then, increased mobility, both the number of cooperative members and customers as well as the vehicles and locations used continuously. Various partnerships have been launched or expanded.

On 1 October 2007, the legal office was moved to Lucerne, where already was the operational headquarters of the cooperative.
