Moccus

Moccus is the name of a Gallic deity in the Celtic mythology.

Mythology

Mocus is in a consecration inscription from Langres ( Haute- Marne, Champagne-Ardenne region ) in the field of Lingones called. After the interpretatio romana he is equated with Mercury. Presumably the name is mucc with Irish or Welsh mochyn ( both meaning "pig" ) is used. There is a connection with the hunting of boar suspected, that he is considered to be patron god of hunters.
