Moctezuma is a small town in the Mexican state of Sonora.

Moctezuma is located approximately 175 km northeast of Hermosillo is the capital of 1763.39 km ² large municipality of Moctezuma. The town has 4,326 inhabitants (as of 2010). The city lies on the Rio Moctezuma at an altitude of 677 m above sea level. It was founded in 1644 under the name Fundación de San Miguel de Arcángel de Oposura of the Jesuit missionary Marcos del Río, later just called Oposura. On September 9, 1828, the city received its present name Moctezuma.
