Modec

Modec was a British manufacturer of electric cars and trucks under the categories of delivery vehicles and light trucks in Coventry.

Founded by Lord Jamie Borwick in 2004, began production in March 2007. Customers were companies such as Tesco, FedEx and UPS.

As the parent company Borwick Group Limited acted with Sir John Egan as Chairman. The Borwick Group was initially wholly owned by Jamie Borwick. 2009 Modec agreed a joint venture with the U.S. truck maker Navistar International to produce Modec electric vehicles in North and South America. The name of the joint venture was Navistar - Modec EV Alliance. As part of this joint venture a minority share of Borwick Group was sold to Navistar.

Models

Modec built delivery vehicles with 2 tons of payload, a speed of 80 km / h and a range of over 160 km. The vehicles possessed a power of 102 hp. The torque of the electric motor was 300 Nm.

The vehicles were offered as a body shell with trunk and platform body.

The charging time of the battery was 8 hours, or change the battery in 20 minutes was possible.

Founder and beginnings of the company

Geoffrey Robert James Borwick, 5th Baron Borwick ( born 1955 ) was from 1987 to 2001 and then Chief Executive Manganese Bronze Holdings plc, where he also held the largest block of shares to 2003 Chairman of the British holding company.
