Mohamed A. El-Erian

Mohamed Aly El- Erian ( born August 19, 1958) is a former CEO of Pacific Investment Management Company ( PIMCO ).

Life

Mohamed A. El - Erian earned a bachelor's degree in 1980 at Cambridge University in the field of economics science. At the University of Oxford in 1982, he earned a master's and a doctorate degree in 1985. He began his professional career in 1983 at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, where he worked for 15 years. After two years at Salomon Smith Barney in London, he joined PIMCO in 1999. From 2004 to 2007 he was CEO of Harvard Management Company, which manages the endowment of Harvard University. In December 2007 he moved again to PIMCO, where he took over as CEO.

On January 21, 2014, he announced that he will leave PIMCO in March 2014. He will remain a member of the International Executive Committee of the parent company, Allianz and act as consultants.
