Mohammad Hussain Sarahang

Mohamed Hussain Sara slope (* 1924 in Kabul, † 1983, persian استاد محمد حسین سرآهنگ ) was an Afghan classical and Ghazalsänger.

He was born 1924 in kharabat, a district of Kabul. Mohamed Hussein was admitted early from his father Gholam Hussein in the classical Afghan music. At age 16, he went to India to the Patiala Gharana ( school of music ), where he was taught by Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan. At 25, he returned to Kabul. There he gave his first concert in Kabul Pamir Cinema, prompting him the then King of Afghanistan Mohammed Zahir Shah gave the title of " Sara Hang" ( Summit of the sound ). Ustad Sara slope repertoire amounts to about 500 ragas and ghazals, which he recorded in India and Afghan Radio Kabul. He sang many songs of the Persian poet Amir Khusrau. Sara slope is also the author of two books on music.
