Mohammed Al-Modiahki

Muhammad al- Mudiyahki (Arabic محمد المضيحكي, DMG Muḥammad al - Muḍiyaḥkī, often Mohamad Al- Modiahki; born June 1, 1974 in Qatar ) is a Qatari Chess Master and the first Grand Master of his country.

His first international success celebrated al - Mudiyahki 1986 when he finished fourth at the World Youth Championships U12. By the end of the 1980s, he managed the jump to the top of the Qatari players. Since the mid- 1990s, he is the undisputed best player of his country. 1998 FIDE awarded him the grandmaster title. Between 1988 and 2006 he took nine times (eight times on first board ) for Qatar at the Chess Olympiad in part, where he received four medals for his individual results: two gold (1996 and 1998) and two silver (1992 and 2002). Four times he participated in the FIDE knockout world championship part where he had to retire any time in the first round: Ruslan Ponomariov against (Las Vegas 1999 ), Alex Yermolinsky ( New Delhi 2000), Judit Polgar (Moscow 2001 ) and against Zoltán Almási (Tripoli 2004).

One of the greatest successes of his international career include Tournament Win in Agadir 1997, Tunis 1997, Andorra 1999. Moreover, shared first place in Calcutta in 1995, Benasque 1997. Al- Modiahki won four times (1997, 1999, 2000 and 2001) the zone tournament in the Arab countries, and he also won the championship of the Arab countries in the years 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2002 ( shared with Hicham Hamdouchi ). In 1993 he received the gold medal for his result at the Asian Team Championship in Malaysia.

His highest Elo rating, he achieved ( 2588 points) in October 2003. For his athletic achievements him the Arab Chess Federation awarded the title of " Player of the Century of the Arab countries ." Since 2001, Grand Master al - Mudiyahki is married to the Chinese world champion of the years 2001 to 2004, Zhu Chen. Both are trained by the Moldovan Viktor Bologan top players.
