Geography
Geology
The district is heavily influenced by the traces of lignite mining. Most of the remaining holes are now flooded and used for bathing.

The district is divided into Golpa, Rothe House, Möhlau and Kleinmöhlau.
History
The place Möhlau goes back to a Slavic settlement. He was first documented on 12 December 1200 at the dedication of the church in about 25 kilometers north Wörlitz.
