Mojo Club

The Mojo Club is a music club on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. The club was founded in 1989 and was regarded in the 1990s as a pioneer of modern breakbeat sounds like Acid Jazz oriented and had a great significance for the dancefloor jazz.

History

The Mojo Club was founded in 1989. He retired in 1991 from the Reeperbahn to. A characteristic umkränztes "M" was the logo of the Mojo Club. In Mojo Club occurred among other Gilles Peterson, Massive Attack, Moloko, the Propellerheads, Pizzicato Five, Roni Size, Goldie, the EZ Rollers and Kruder & Dorfmeister.

There the Club series "Electric Mojo " and " Dancefloor Jazz " established. In addition, there was a cultural program with additional meetings held since 1993 "Urban Poetry" - and "Power Club" - readings, and Raphaël Marionneaus " Le Café Abstrait ". From 1992 to 1997 the Mojo Club operating in Hamburg two fashion stores "Mojo -The Shop".

The Mojo Club was closed in April 2003 and the building demolished in November 2009.

The plant on the Reeperbahn 1 originated from 2010 to 2012 with the Dancing Towers three new buildings, in the common basement floors of the new Mojo Club was incorporated. The entrance is recessed on the forecourt Reeperbahn 1 and can be accessed through two bottom flaps, and there are a downstairs Mojo Cafe. The originally scheduled for September 1, 2012 provided for opening was postponed several times and finally took place on February 2, 2013.
