Moleskine

Moleskine is a brand of notebooks, diaries, sketchbooks and folios that are Moleskine SpA ( Società per azioni ) prepared an Italian company based in Milan. Moleskine notebooks are typically bound in coated cardboard, with an elastic band to keep the book closed, a sewn spine that allows the flat impact of the notebook, cream-colored paper, rounded corners, a reading band and a folding pocket at the end of the book, all packaged by a paper sleeve. History

Notebooks with the same characteristics as the present Moleskine notebooks were popular standard in Europe in the 19th and 20th century, handmade by small French bookbinders who supplied the Parisian stationery shops. Moleskine production

Moleskine products are designed in Italy. Most of them are printed, assembled and sewn in China. Since 2008, large-sized ruffles, Cahiers, folios and hard-cover collections are produced in Turkey. The watercolor paper is delivered by a French, specialized manufacturers.

Moleskine notebooks are made from chlorine-free paper. Only the paper for the Foliantenkollektion has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Each Moleskine notebook is enclosed in the back folding pocket a small booklet that tells the story of Moleskine in different languages.

Marketing

Mid-1990s, the company staged a clever marketing tale with a mystical origin legend full of references to legendary artists and intellectuals.
