Molinopampa District

Molinopampa is one of the 21 Peruvian districts that make up the province of Chachapoyas in the region of the Amazon. The district capital is the town of Molino Pampa.

Capital

The name of the district capital Molinopampa is made up of two words, of Molino, which in Spanish " mill " means and from Pampa, which simply means an undeveloped area of indeterminate size. This name comes from the fact that Molinopampa, which lies directly on the River Sonche flowing later in the Utcubamba until a few years ago was home to one of the most important water-powered mills in the area.

Today Molinopampa is known for its abundance of fish.

As in the whole area, so can also be found in Molinopampa ruins of the Chachapoyas culture.

In the north of the district Molinopampa borders the district Quinjalca ( Chachapoyas ) and the District of Granada ( Chachapoyas ), to the east by the district of Vista Alegre and the district Mariscal Benavides, on the southeast by the district Longar and on the southwest by the district Cheto ( Chachapoyas ).

The district Molinopampa begins on the banks of the river Sonche and goes from here to the high mountains.
