Momo (dumpling)
Momo ( Nepali: म: म :; Tibetan: མོག་མོག་ ) is a Nepalese and Tibetan dumpling, which is especially produced in the region in the Himalayas. Momos are similar to German ravioli, Italian ravioli, Chinese Jiaozi or Russian pelmeni.
The Tibetan word Momo is derived from the Chinese Momo (馍 馍).
Production and ingredients
Momos are made of a noodle -like dough with flour and water. Round dough pieces are then shaped with different fillings for dumplings. Besides vegetarian fillings meat fillings made of goat, chicken or pork, especially in Nepal, Tibet and northeastern India are popular. To cook the dumplings are steamed and typically served with a tomato soup or broth.
