Mondoubleau

Mondoubleau is a commune with 1497 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Loir -et -Cher in the Centre region; it belongs to the district Vendôme and the Canton Mondoubleau.

History

The place was named after Hugues Doubleau out of the house Montoire who built a castle in the 11th century. Housed here Benedictine monastery was destroyed in the 13th century, the associated chapel in 1737.
