The Monge is a scout ship of the French Navy. The ship is named after the French mathematician Gaspard Monge and cryptographer who was Minister for the Navy during the French Revolution. The Monge can serve as a control center for missiles and missile defense. The ship is an essential part of the French nuclear missile program.

The ship was put into service in 1992 and is the flagship of the experimental squadron ( escadre d' Essais ). It is also used by the French Space Agency for research purposes in addition to the military intelligence ( Signals Intelligence ). On the ship to serve a 120 -strong crew and 100 civilian and military technicians.
