Monkey Kung Fu

The monkey kung fu (Chinese猴拳, Pinyin hou quan, Monkey Fist ', also Tai Shing Pek Kwar, Tai Sheng Men, Tai Sing Pop Gar Mun or monkey boxes called ) is a series of Chinese martial arts, which have in common the imitation of different movement patterns of monkeys. This one has naturally focused especially on the struggle and threatening behavior, but also playful and deceptive behavior.

History of style

THe original form of style is attributed to Qi Jiguang ( 1528-1588 ): His Urstil inspired the development of many monkeys styles that differentiated in the course of time. The Shaolin Monkey Style Dasheng Piguamen from Fujian province is now considered the most common.

The monkeys Styles

  • Tai Sheng Men (alternatively: Dashengquan ) of Si Kao (also: Kao Sze Kau Sze, Kao Tsu ). Si Kao refused by killing an officer his enlistment in the army and was captured then. Acrobatics and technology

The styles are generally above average acrobatically: The movements contain many case, gripping, tumble and jump elements. As a weapon part of the floor plays a central role, which is used for attack and defense and can moreover also climbed to gain a height advantage in battle. The techniques are very demanding. It takes years to develop a good elasticity and resilience of the joints in order to master rolls, flips, and jumping techniques. Distinguishing feature of the Monkey Kung Fu is the lightning fast attacking and dodging.
