Monte Carmo

The Monte Carmo is a 1641 meter high mountain of the Ligurian Apennines. It is located at the meeting point of three Italian regions: Liguria, Piedmont and Emilia -Romagna. The mountain is part of the mountain range of Mount Antola and is located between the Val Borbera Trebbia, Val Boreca and the Valle Teren zone.

To reach the peak is easiest on a hiking trail that leads from the settlement Capanne di Carrega, which belongs to Carrega Ligure to the summit of Mount Carmo.

From the summit of the nearby summit of Mount Antola and Monte Alfeo are identifiable. To the east one has a view of Monte Penna, Tomarlo Monte and Monte Maggiorasca.

The Lombard Salt Road

The Monte Carmo was a stage of the Lombard Salt Road. This resulted from Pavia by the Valle Staffora to Monte Bogleglio and from there over the ridge, between the Val Boreca and Val Borbera to Antola. About Torriglia the road finally reached the Ligurian port city of Genoa.
