Montecristi is a town in western Ecuador near the city of Manta. It is located in the province of Manabí and is the capital of the canton of the same name.

Culture and sights

Montecristi is especially known for the production of the famous Panama hats. The best quality hats are therefore also called Montecristi superfino. Here was the Constituent Assembly of Ecuador 2007/ 08 instead, in honor of Eloy Alfaro built there conference building Ciudad Alfaro.
