Monumental brass

A Bream is a special form of the English funerary art. There are engraved brass plates as grave plaques, which were introduced by Holland in the 13th century. However, the oldest surviving bream from the year 1231 is located in Germany in the St. Andrew's Church in Verden. The oldest in England bream is located in Stoke d' Abernon. It dates from 1277 and is the grave of Sir John D'Abernon plate. The largest number of bream in England includes the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Chatham. There are 18 bream, which were worked by the years 1320-1529. .
