Moorpark is a city in Ventura County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 35,700 inhabitants ( 2004).
History
Moorpark was founded in 1887 by Robert W. Poindexter, who named the place after one of apricot which grew in the area. 1904 a tunnel through the Santa Susana Mountains was completed, which it the Southern Pacific Railroad allowed to build a depot near what the place missed a growth spurt.
In March 2005, a mammoth were found near Moorpark remains, which probably belongs to the genus Mammuthus meridionalis rare.
Geography
Moor Park can be reached via the auto - routes 23 and 118, or by Metrolink ( local train system ). The metropolitan area has a size of 49.9 km ².
Miscellaneous
The football team of Moorpark High School Moorpark Musketeers are called. They play in the Marmonte League.
Moor Park Little League won the Western Regional Championships in 1996.
