The Morača ( Cyrillic Морача ) is a river in the center of Montenegro. It rises on the northern slope of the 2226 m high mountain Kapa Moračka at Ljevišta in the municipality of Kolasin and then flows 99.5 km mainly to the south, passing through the capital Podgorica and finally joins up with Vranjina in Scutari ( Skadar Jezero ). It is the main tributary.

In its upper reaches the Morača is a rushing mountain river, which crosses numerous gorges, including the more famous Morača Canyon ( Morača klisura ) through which run the main traffic flows from Podgorica to Serbia. A few kilometers north of the Morača Canyon is the monastery Morača. Near the ruins of the ancient city Dioclea north of Podgorica opens the Zeta in the Morača. This occurs here in the zeta level. It is the only major level of Montenegro and opens to the south towards the Skadar Lake. The most important left tributary is the Cijevna which opens southwest of Podgorica.

Since the Morača is a narrow and often shallow river, it is not navigable.

Near the monastery Morača in the municipality of Kolasin itself on 23 June 2013, a serious bus accident in which 18 Romanian tourists were killed when their tour bus crashed 40 meters deep in the Morača Canyon occurred. The busy bus with 50 people was when he probably due to excessive speed in a curve came off on the way to the Montenegrin Adriatic coast during a rain storm of the roadway.
