Moritz Landé

Moritz Landé ( born March 2, 1829 in Ostrowo, † June 23, 1888 in Berlin) was a German architect of Jewish origin.

He was born the son of the merchant Löbel Landé in the Prussian province of Posen. In his childhood and youth he was taught in his home by a private tutor. His training as a master mason, he finished in Breslau. He then left home and lived with his uncle, the architect Jacob Landé. Of their business activities inspired, he decided also for architecture.

In 1857 Moritz Landé married at the age of 28 years, the 22 -year-old Sophie Block (* September 1, 1835; † June 23, 1913 ). With her he had five children later, including Thekla Landé ( 1864-1932 ).

Mid-1850s designed Moritz Landé the New Synagogue in Ostrowo and supervised the construction. After 1864 he moved with his family to Berlin, for which he had built a system designed according to their own plans residential building.

Together with his wife Sophie, he rests in the Jewish Cemetery in Berlin -Weissensee. When his last home address is the Wilhelmstrasse 143, as their last home address Kurfürstenstrasse 99 a given. The funeral of Sophie Landé was at the time, filed by Otto Landé, Director.
