Morning Runner

Morning Runner was a British rock band that was formed in Reading, Berkshire in 2003, when all the band members have played in other bands.

History

The band consisted of vocalist and guitarist Matthew Greener, bassist Tom Derrett, drummer Ali Clewer and pianist Chris Wheatcroft. The band played many concerts in the English province, and so won a relatively rapid regional awareness. Stylistically, there are / were Morning Runner a mixture of different influences of Britpop in recent years - Oasis of The Strokes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to The White Stripes.

Then in 2003 the band received from the Manchester indie label "Faith & Hope Records " and a recording contract in 2004 brought their first EP out. A year later, the band was signed by Parlophone.

First appeared in 2005, the Drawing Shapes EP in the summer of the same year with Gone Up In Flames then the first single, which made ​​the UK for quite attention. As a result, Morning Runner were constantly on tour, including with Bloc Party, Ian Brown and Coldplay. Especially Chris Martin, frontman of Coldplay, was impressed by the young quartet.

This was followed by the singles Be all you want me to be ( fall 2005 ) and Burning Benches (February 2006), the latter in England even cracked the top 20 by a tour break Morning Runner had the time to record a debut album.

The debut album Wilderness is Paradise Now was released in March 2006 and received good reviews. Subsequently Morning Runner went on their first small headlining tour through England, before continuing as the opening act of Embrace played a few concerts. As part of the Haldern Pop Tour they also came to Germany for the first time.

For 2007, the completion of the second studio album was planned, but in August 2007, the band broke up.
