Moscow mayoral election, 2013

The mayoral elections in Moscow in 2013 was held in the Russian capital Moscow on 8 September 2013. On June 5, 2013 Sergei Sobyanin incumbent had announced early elections.

Sobyanin succeeded in re-election on the first ballot.

2004, the then Russian President Vladimir Putin had abolished the direct election of the mayor after several terrorist attacks and introduced the appointment by the President himself. In response to the protests after the Russian parliamentary elections in 2011 led President Dmitry Medvedev direct dial again.

  • Mikhail Degtyaryov ( Liberal Democratic Party): 2.86%
  • Nikolai Lewitschew ( Fair Russia ): 2.79%

Invalid were 1.53 percent of the vote and the voter turnout was 32.07 percent.

Favorite was incumbent Sobyanin, who came in the polls at about 50 percent before the election. Navalny was about 15 percent, and the other candidates from one to six percent.
