Moshe Gafni

Moshe Gafni (Hebrew משה גפני; born May 5, 1952 in Bnei Brak ) is an Israeli politician and Knesset member of the Party of the Charedim.

Gafni was educated at a yeshiva and then worked as director of a kollel (Hebrew כּוֹלֵל; lit Talmud high school. ). He was the Degel HaTorah Knesset in 1988 and was appointed Deputy Minister for services of worship on 23 July 1990. He held that post until July 13, 1992.

Gafni objected to the decision of the Supreme Court to recognize homosexual marriages concluded abroad, declaring: "We do not have a Jewish state here. We have Sodom and Gomorrah here. "

However, he was one of the few ultra-Orthodox politicians who condemned the force exerted by Charedim at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade 2006 violence.
