Mosque of Rome

The Mosque of Rome (Italian: Moschea di Roma) is located in the north of the city at the foot of the Monti Parioli, in the area of Acqua Acetosa. It can take several thousand believers and with an area of 30,000 m² one of the largest mosques in Europe. The only mosque in the city is the seat of the Centro Culturale Islamico d' Italia ( Islamic Cultural Italy).

She is not only a religious meeting place, but also provides cultural and social services for Sunni and Shiite Muslims. In the mosque weddings, funerals, and other religious exegeses events are held.

Construction

The mosque was donated jointly by the exiled Afghan Prince Muhammad Hasan out of the house and his wife Razia Begum Barakzai; financed the construction of Faisal ibn Abd al - Aziz, head of the Saudi royal family and guardian of the two holy mosques. It was designed by Paolo Portoghesi the mosque, Vittorio Gigliotti and Sami Mousavi.

The construction period amounted to more than ten years: the city council of Rome founded the country in 1974, the foundation stone was laid in 1984, however; this happened in the presence of the Italian president Sandro Pertini, the inauguration was finally on 21 June 1995.

Organization

The current Imam of the mosque is the Egyptian Ala 'al- Din Muhammad Isma'il al - Ghobashi. Ridwan Abd Allah directs the Islamic Cultural Center. Earlier Imams were:
