Motorola Solutions is a U.S. manufacturer of telecommunications equipment for business customers.

History

In early 2008 Motorola announced to convert the business customer and the retail business into two independent companies and to bring to the market. This step was taken on January 4, 2011. The two companies formed hot Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. Motorola Mobility includes the retail business, Motorola Solutions business banking. Chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions Inc. was Gregory Brown. Legally speaking, is the direct successor to Motorola Solutions Motorola.

In July 2010, Nokia Siemens Networks and Motorola Solutions announced the conclusion of an agreement about the fact that Nokia Siemens Networks will acquire the majority of the assets in the business segment mobile network infrastructure from Motorola Solutions. Because of a legal dispute, this step could only be accomplished in April 2011, for a purchase price of 975 million, instead of originally planned 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. By buying Nokia Siemens Networks gets around 50 mobile operators as new customers. It is expected that at the conclusion of the transaction, approximately 7,500 employees will transfer from the mobile network infrastructure business of Motorola Solutions to Nokia Siemens Networks.

The business of Motorola Solutions comprises, inter alia, products such as barcode readers of the manufacturer acquired in 2007 Symbol Technologies.

In June 2012, Motorola Solutions took over the British PDA manufacturer Psion for 200 million U.S. dollars.
