Mount Abu or Abu (Hindi: माउंट आबू, Maunt ABU ) is a town in the south of the Indian state of Rajasthan and also refers to a mountain region there.

Geography

The town itself, with its 22,000 inhabitants is located on a plateau 22 km long and 6 km wide in Aravalligebirge. The highest point is 1722 m, the place itself is situated on approximately 1200 m. On the plateau are several small lakes, of which the Nakkisee is the largest and best known.

Attractions

Mt Abu is on the one hand a strong tourism-oriented town with hundreds of hotels, which is mainly visited by taking a short break from Gujarat and Rajasthan due to the prevailing throughout the year, relative coolness. The Nakkisee is the main attraction of the region, he was named after the legend of a Hindu god who is said to have scratched it with his nails ( Nakh ) from the rock. The riverside path is very charming, passing interesting rock formations, of which the best known of the Toad Rock.
