Mount Matthews

Mount Matthews is the highest summit of the Rimutaka Range, a mountain range east of the city of Wellington on the North Island of New Zealand in the Wellington region.

Mount Matthews extends to a height of 940 meters above sea level and is therefore not worth mentioning because of its height, but by the aspect, the highest apparent elevation in the vicinity of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand to be.

The Pinnacle reaches of the surrounding wooded bushland up and can be climbed in a day without special mountaineering equipment, still it is a strenuous and steep climb, so a full day for the ascent from the foot of the mountain range is necessary. Access to the mountain is from the Wairarapa on the East side of the Rimutaka Range or from Orongorongo River, which splits the range at its southern end from northeast to southwest, is possible.
