Crater of Mount Saint John

Mount Saint John ( Māori: Te Kopuke or Tikikopuke ) it one of the cinder cone Aucklandfeldes in Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand.

It is 126 meters high and has a crater 150 meters in diameter. It was the site of a Pā ( fortified village ) of Māori. Earthworks such as storage pits for sweet potatoes and terraces are preserved.

The age of the Mt St John is not precisely known, but he is older than 28,500 years, as he is covered by ash from the eruption of the Three Kings - volcano. Mt St John is the source of a long stream of lava, of a river valley to the west and ran down the Waitemata Harbour, the Meola Reef formed from the eruption of Mount Eden.
