Mount Sumbing

The Sumbing or Gunung Sumbing is an active stratovolcano in Central Java, Indonesia. The 3371 meter high peak is formed by an opening to the northeast crater about 800 meters in diameter, in which a lava dome is located. In particular, at the north and south-east slope, there are secondary craters. According to historical reports, an eruption took place in 1730, originated in the possibly smaller by phreatic explosions crater in the summit area.

A good ten kilometers north-west and separated from Sumbing by a 1,400 -meter-high saddle is the 3136 meter high Sundoro, another volcano.
