Mount Sundoro

The Sundoro or Sindoro is an active stratovolcano in Central Java, Indonesia. The highly symmetrical, 3136 -meter high mountain peak is roughly ten kilometers northwest of Sumbing volcano.

In the summit area there are active fumaroles, a small lava dome and several, resulting in phreatic explosions smaller craters. The summit was well as several secondary craters of the starting point of lava flows located on the slopes. From the 19th and 20th centuries nine outbreaks of Sundoro are known. The last eruption took place in October and November 1971; while it was at the summit to phreatic explosions.

North of the Sundoro springs the river Progo.
