Mount Tendürek

The Tendürek Dagi ( armen. Թոնդրակ ) is a shield volcano in the Turkish province of Ağrı in the district Diyadin near the Iranian border. A variant name is Tendürük. It is equipped with 3,533 m one of the highest mountains in the country. The ridge runs in an east -west direction. The Tendürek has two cones and a crater lake on the eastern slope with 500 m diameter and is Turkey 's most active volcano. Its last eruption of gas and ash was carried out in 1855. Eruptions and the emergence of the volcano left wide lava flows that now cover 500 km ².
