Mount Whisler

Mount Whisler is a 2500 meters high mountain in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. He is the second highest mountain on each of Ellesmere Iceland, the British Empire Range and the Arctic Cordillera. Mount Whisler is located about twelve kilometers north-east of Barbeau Peak, the highest mountain of the Cordillera.

The mountain is completely enclosed by Henrietta Nesmith Glacier, located in Quttinirpaaq National Park. He was charted in 1882 by an expedition of the U.S. Army Signal Corps under the direction of Adolphus Greely, who was an American contribution to the First International Polar Year. It is named after the expedition member William Whisler.
